This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Manual track and trace of garments made easier with new RFID reader from Datamars.

Datamars, a leading global supplier of high performance RFID-based solutions for textile and companion animal identification, has expanded its RFID reader portfolio with the launch of the new high-frequency Mid-Range reader R-IN1300 MID ideally suited to applications in the industrial laundry sector where manual count and sorting processes are required.

"The new Mid-Range reader is the smallest and lightest in our HF (high frequency) portfolio and complements our existing Single Channel and Multi Channel readers completing the range for all applications," says Ken Boyle, Chief Marketing Officer at Datamars. Wherever manual sorting and counting is used in the laundry business, the Mid-Range reader is the high quality, cost-effective solution to achieve automatic, error-free processes employing less manual labor.

With its reduced size and weight, the Datamars R-IN1300 MID reader is easy to handle and, when manually sorting textiles, allows operators to identify multiple items in one sweep, reading up to 50 LaundryChips per second.

In addition to easy integration into existing laundry processes, its competitive pricing provides an excellent cost/performance ratio for an ISO 18000-3 13.56MHz RFID reader/writer. Other features include full ISO tag compatibility and a web server  configuration and application software for efficient management of data - a particularly crucial need when items are counted and sorted by hand.

With the introduction of the new Mid-Range reader, Datamars' customers can now benefit from a range of products suited to their specific RFID requirement for laundry identification whether on large conveyors, in bags or when sorting items manually.

Other readers in the Datamars range include the high performance Multi Channel (HF) R-IN1300 MC reader and the Single Channel R-IN1300 SC reader. Both are suited to all high frequency ISO 18000-3 and ISO 15693 applications and in multi-read mode (HF) can read up to 50 LaundryChips per second. These state-of-the-art readers also allow remote configuration and monitoring through an integrated web server, providing fast and accurate identification in any laundrys track and trace process.
