CB Richard Ellis has secured the leasehold interest of Sainsburys Distribution Centre in Waltham Point on behalf of Deka Immobilien. The Centre has been let to Sainsburys for a further 21 years, with the investment comprising a total of 705,000 sq. ft. prime distribution space and representing Dekas first UK distribution acquisition.

Waltham Cross and the surrounding area is an established distribution location, attracting prime rents due to its accessibility.  Originally developed in 2002, the building benefits from being highly prominent and visible from the adjacent M25.

Simon Barrowcliff, Executive Director of CB Richard Ellis Capital Markets: This purchase underlines Dekas broader commitment to the UK market, where they continue to see value for money. More broadly speaking, the acquisition demonstrates the continued foreign investment in the UK despite the difficult current market conditions.

CBRE advised on the complete acquisition process, including building surveys, environmental audits and cost consultancy for the purchaser.  The firms involvement in the acquisition of Sainsburys, Waltham Cross stems from the exclusive arrangement between CBRE, Savills and Deka.
