Poundstretcher, the variety high street retailer, has chosen Vodat International, the communications solution provider to the retail industry, to provide its MPLS (multi protocol label switching) network solution across its 335 stores in a three-year deal, which will help the business reduce costs and improve bandwidth, performance and resilience.

Steven McArdle, Head of Cost Control, Poundstretcher, said, We decided to work with Vodat for a further three years as we are happy in the knowledge that our estate is well managed by a professional and highly capable company. Over the coming years we hope to push more technology through the estate to allow us to maximise the potential of the network. By working hand in hand with Vodat it allows the companys technology to be a great benefit to our business on a dayto-day basis.

Poundstretcher undertook a rigorous selection process comparing Vodat against four other market leading suppliers and was selected due to the companys experience and expertise within the sector. McArdle added, Vodat and its team of professionals has helped us with the implementation of wireless hand held terminal guns in each store, PCI compliance and networked managed media devices. The company is always willing to help us with new ideas and technologies. We are already introducing a new circuit to cope in the event of central failure, which will allow stores to carry on trading seamlessly. We also plan to increase bandwidth at all stores over the coming months.

Mike Bielinski, CEO at Vodat International, said, Our fully managed network not only provides a more cost-efficient solution to Poundstretchers communication requirements but will also deliver the necessary platform that will enable them to introduce other applications such as; EFT processing. It will also allow them to develop innovative and cost effective IP telephony, electronic messaging and e-learning solutions, as and when the business requires it.
