EPoS (Electronic Point of Sale) Technology News

EPOS or Electronic Point of Sale software is found in the majority of retail businesses. An EPOS system generally consists of a VDU (Visual Display Unit) and a PC and the system may also include additional equipment such as a scanner or a printer, depending on the requirements of the business. A traditional EPoS system is where the software is deployed locally on the till hardware and is generally found at the 'checkout' of a business, but can be linked to other terminals in the 'back' of the business and can even be linked to the business' website.

EPOS or Electronic Point of Sale

By linking the EPOS system to the business' website, customers are provided with real-time information regarding stock, through the use of automatic stock control. Links to other terminals within the shop results in greater control over the business as a whole. Extended retail EPoS software facilities include instant messaging direct to point of sale, time and attendance management, a central document sharing facility, and cash/safe management. .Cloud based EPOS means retailers access it via the internet giving retailers real time access.

Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) is a system that combines hardware and software to process customer transactions in a retail outlet. EPOS systems typically consist of a touchscreen computer, receipt printer, barcode scanner, cash drawer, and software.

EPOS systems can be used to track sales, manage inventory, and generate reports. They can also be used to accept payments from customers using a variety of methods, such as credit cards, debit cards, and cash.

EPOS systems offer a number of advantages over traditional cash registers, including:

  • Increased accuracy: EPOS systems are less prone to errors than cash registers, as they automatically calculate the total amount due and generate receipts.
  • Improved efficiency: EPOS systems can help businesses process transactions more quickly and efficiently.
  • Increased data insights: EPOS systems can generate reports that provide businesses with insights into their sales, inventory, and customer behavior.

EPOS systems are a valuable tool for businesses of all sizes. They can help businesses improve their efficiency, accuracy, and data insights.

Here are some examples of electronic point-of-sale systems:

  • Square
  • Shopify POS
  • Lightspeed Retail
  • Revel Systems
  • Toast

These systems offer a variety of features and pricing plans to fit the needs of different businesses.

If you are considering implementing an EPOS system in your business, there are a few things you should keep in mind:

  • The size and complexity of your business will determine the features you need in an EPOS system.
  • You need to choose a system that is easy to use and that integrates with your existing business systems.
  • You need to consider the cost of the system, as well as the ongoing costs of maintenance and support.
