Checkpoint Systems, a global leader in innovative security and merchandising solutions, opened a new showroom in Hirschhorn, Germany, to demonstrate the latest equipment for customer focused stores.

The showroom simulates a modern supermarket equipped with different solutions of Checkpoints several divisions. Besides shelves, a Fruit & Vegetable section and a small deli counter along with a checkout, the virtual supermarket is loaded with merchandise for different categories mainly on food and beverages but also DIY, consumer electronics and others. It shows the wide range of Checkpoints customer focused products like Hand-Labelling-Systems (HLS). As studies prove the importance of clear and attractive ticketing on products, because customers want to see prices and information on the goods they pick up, Checkpoints division Meto presents the variety of HLS, including even hand labellers that print and dispense Radio Frequency (RF) labels, to provide well ticketed products that stimulate impulse buying and can increase sales dramatically.

Moreover, the showroom demonstrates Turn-O-Matic queue management and other merchandise products including Emotion Line large, colourful and highly visual signage options for indoor and outdoor application, easy to change and with diversified effect.

The purpose of the showrooms set up was to demonstrate the diversified assortment of merchandising products to customers, partners and own employees as well as to conduct regular sessions like seminars on merchandising issues, workshops, meetings and new product releases, using the quasi supermarkets environment as a source of inspiration and new ideas. The showroom also follows the idea of presenting off-standard and customized solutions, as these are significant parts of our business, explains Ulrich Schaefer, Vice President Shrink Management Solutions and iLabels Checkpoint Systems Europe. Guests from several chains of stores like the Danish Superbest, the German MediaSaturn and more than 12 partner companies around Europe were already hosted in the virtual store.

Some of the solutions presented in the showroom are already part of the reality as they were recently applied in the METRO Groups real,- Future Store, inaugurated a few weeks ago in Toenisvorst near Dusseldorf, Germany. Besides Metos Emotion Line, the professional suspension system DecoLine and the proven PromoSign price cassettes for the service counters and the fruit & vegetable department, Checkpoints latest RFID technology has also been
implemented into the real,- Future Store. "Checkpoint's advanced RFID knowledge and integration services continue to play a key role in our RFID implementation", states Dr. Gerd Wolfram, Managing Director of MGI METRO Group Information Technology. Checkpoint will equip another 200 real,- hypermarkets across Germany with its RFID portals throughout the supply chain to improve inventory visibility and to enhance the customers shopping experience.

The showroom in Hirschhorn further offers the possibility of installing EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) and CCTV (Closed-circuit television system) solutions to provide an idea of the products real life application to its visitors.
