Psion Teklogix has unveiled the NEO, its next-generation lightweight, pocket-sized handheld computer.  NEO combines rugged durability with outstanding ergonomics and includes such features an angled display for optimal viewing during data capture and a brilliant colour touch screen which combines brightness and clarity for easier readability both indoors and outdoors.  With its compact size and an 8-hour battery, NEO is designed for todays mobile workforce. 

NEO provides a significant new option for existing customers while also opening new market opportunities for both Psion Teklogix and its channel partners.  Further, after a successful 13 year production run of its Workabout MX, Psion Teklogix is able to provide this customer base with an enhanced replacement product and a complementary addition to Psion Teklogixs portfolio of class-leading devices.

NEO takes full advantage of Microsoft Windows CE .NET 5.0 to integrate a number of advanced data capture and communications functions that increase worker productivity and connect users with their critical applications whether in the store, warehouse or remote job site.  These functions include an integrated imager or laser scanner, and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), and Bluetooth wireless capabilities.  In addition, NEO leverages Psion Teklogix PTX Connect application to deliver Voice over IP (VoIP) with discrete Push-to-Talk for real-time voice communications as well as Instant and Text Messaging functions.  NEO can be easily expanded to incorporate new technologies, such as Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID), based on a users future application requirements.  NEOs rugged engineering and compact, stylish design make it ideally suited for a number of applications including:

 Retail Front of Store: mobile stock checking, price checking, merchandising
 Light Duty Warehousing: inventory tracking, stocking, back-dock shipping and receiving
 Utilities: meter reading, surveying, parking enforcement, asset tracking
 Courier and Parcel Delivery: receipt acknowledgement
 Ticket Verification: theatre and sporting events
 
NEOs bright, high-resolution colour display is ergonomically angled towards the user to make it easier and more comfortable to use, avoiding the scan, tilt and squint viewing of other devices.  With a host of rugged performance and ergonomic features, NEO complements our broad line of rugged handheld computers, says Barry Boyd, Senior Product Manager, Psion Teklogix.

Small and compact, NEO weighs just 275 grams and measures 16.5 cm long by 6.4 cm wide by 3.8 cm high.  Despite its small size and attractive design, NEO maintains Psion Teklogix hallmark ruggedness and is designed to withstand demanding customer usage environments with an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance as well as an ability to withstand 26 drops from 1.2 meters to concrete.  It also has an easily removable pistol grip that simply clips on and off for quick transition between different data acquisition activities.  In order to support different application requirements, NEO is available with 48 key alphanumeric or 26 key numeric keyboards.
