Specialist manufacturer of PC-based touchscreens, LCD touchscreen monitors and point-of-sale hardware J2 Retail Systems and its software partner, hospitality solutions specialist Mission IS, have announced details of their latest joint win.  The duo has secured international luxury store chain, Harvey Nichols, as a client.

Harvey Nichols has installed a complete hardware and software till solution into the restaurant of its sixth UK store, which it opened recently in Bristol.

Establishing its presence in the South-West for the first time, Harvey Nichols Bristol is the anchor for the new upmarket Quakers Friars development in the city centre, and offers a foodmarket, bar and restaurant, as well as fashion and beauty departments.

Mission IS Managing Director, Ian Jones, explains how his company came to secure the business.  For this latest store, Harvey Nichols had decided to look at everyone in the market.  It wanted to be sure that it was not just catching up with its EPoS, but really moving forward.  We came in right at the end of the selection process but, after technical demonstrations and presentations to the restaurant management, we were delighted to be awarded the contract.

Mission then introduced hardware from its partner company, J2 Retail Systems, as best suited to Harvey Nichols in terms of performance, ease of use, reliability and aesthetics.

Six of J2s 560 terminals have been installed.  Their small footprint makes for space-efficient counter mounting.  The J2 560s are equipped with card readers and Mission have configured the solution to support use of Harvey Nichols staff cards to access the tills.  The tills also process the retailers GE cards for discounted staff purchases.

Adds Harvey Nichols Retail Operations Director, Martin Schofield: We decided not to convert our existing systems, but to start with something brand new for Bristol, in keeping with a new store in a new development.  The Mission/J2 solution has been very well received by our staff.

Harvey Nichols has a number of premium lifestyle stores specialising in brand name merchandise.  Its estate covers Dublin, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham and Leeds in addition to its flagship Knightsbridge, London store.  International expansion has seen stores in Riyadh, Dubai, Jakarta, Hong Kong and Istanbul become landmarks in cities where luxury is a byword.
