Sanderson, the publicly owned UK provider of software solutions to the retail industry, has won a contract to supply the shoe retailer William Smith Shoe Merchants with its e-commerce solution, Midas Direct.

William Smith is a family run business and has been in operation since 1867, when the grandfather of the present Chairman, Paul Smith, set up the business in old Overgate in Dundee.  The business now has 32 stores, with the head office based in Dundee.

The retailer currently uses the Sanderson retail management system Midas to manage their retail operations. William Smith recognised the significance of online trading and how customers use the internet when considering purchases. The decision to invest in the Sanderson e-commerce solution Midas Direct means that William Smith can manage both their e-commerce business and their website from a single IT system.

Midas Direct is an e-commerce solution offering back office facilities and a content management system. The system was developed with sales in mind; all aspects of the site have been created to focus on product sales making it very user friendly for customers. This was a decisive factor for William Smith in their selection process, combined with their confidence in the Sanderson team.

Stuart Smith, Managing Director at William Smith Shoe Merchants, commented:

"We are really looking forward to the launch of our new online sales channel. We have realised significant benefits from Midas and we had no hesitation in choosing Sanderson to implement Midas Direct."

David Sanders, Managing Director for Retail Systems at Sanderson said:

We are delighted William Smith Shoes has chosen Sanderson to supply their e-commerce solution. Midas Direct is extremely user friendly and enables William Smith Shoes to reach more potential customers via a new sales channel.
