ATG, provider of e-commerce solutions, has announced that Thomas Cook UK & Ireland is using ATG to power their thomascook.com website. With the ATG Commerce platform, the site now offers highly personalised service and full transactional functionality to customers.

Thomas Cook UK & Ireland is the second largest leisure travel group in the UK with around 19,000 employees. The company operates a fleet of 43 aircraft, has a network of more than 800 high street stores (Thomas Cook and Going Places), leading websites (www.thomascook.com and www.airtours.co.uk), its own television channel Thomas Cook TV (Sky channel 655) and some of the world's favourite travel brands.

The Thomas Cook website required a scalable and reliable platform that would rapidly expand and change its sources of inventory, as well as integrate new features as and when required. It needed to improve its ability to innovate and change content and offers quickly to meet and exceed competitor offerings and customer expectations. In addition, Thomas Cook was looking to reduce the amount of bookings made online without offline intervention.

ATGs e-commerce technology platform provides Thomas Cook with an enhanced content management and merchandising system, enabling them to retain full control over the design, layout, and promotional content of the site. ATG Commerce ensures that Thomas Cook UK & Ireland can recognise new and repeat customers, providing personalised product offerings and more effective cross- and up-sell opportunities, through customer insight and behavioural tracking.

Russell Gould, Director of e-Commerce at Thomas Cook UK & Ireland, says, Today more people are choosing to shop online, and travel is becoming one of the most popular areas to make a Web purchase. Were seeing increased competition in the market, and have chosen to work with ATG to remain at the forefront of innovation, and to offer our customers the best online experience.

Frank Lord, ATGs regional vice president EMEA, comments, The travel sector is in a prime position to benefit from all the advantages of effective e-commerce technologies, such as site search, personalised journey planning, and effective cross and up-sell opportunities. Were are looking forward to working more closely with Thomas Cook a brand that is always striving to offer the best experience for its customers, both on and offline.
