This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Iceland signs 11.5 million deal with Getronics.

Iceland has signed a seven-year outsourcing deal worth over 11.5 million with Getronics. Announced today, the contract is a renewal running until 2015. It includes 24x7 server hosting and systems management, Service Desk provision and also desk side PC and Blackberry support. The fixed annual contract will be implemented throughout the UK.

Getronics provides both flexibility in service support and predictable costs, which is invaluable in the current financial climate. The new contract fits into Icelands existing technology plans and also includes technical architecture, database support and a managed print service.

Getronics was chosen because of the existing expertise built up through a relationship spanning a number of years. Weve built up excellent rapport and trust, commented Mark Pearson, IS Director at Iceland. The changes made to the contract have provided us with stability and security in terms of our IT platform in the current financial climate.

Getronics will also provide increased support in areas vital to our business such as an Anti Virus Service and Blackberry support for our end user community on the move.  In addition, Pearson remarked, the new deal has improved our relationship and further integrated the Iceland and Getronics outsourcing model.

Dave Baldwin, Managing Director at Getronics commented, we know Icelands business extremely well and have invested time with key contacts and stakeholders throughout the re-negotiation process. This has enabled us to completely align our technology and service provision with Icelands requirements and, as the renewal was instigated by Iceland, this speaks volumes for the working relationship we now have in place.
