Selco expands on line with K3

This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Selco expands on line with K3.

Selco, the fast-expanding, cash and carry-style trade only building materials supplier, with a network of 28 self-select warehouses through England and Wales, has selected K3, provider of Microsoft Dynamics, to supply and implement its Webshop e-commerce solution to enhance Selcos product website.

Selco chose the K3 Webshop solution to enable it to sell more by simplifying its web management and minimising maintenance costs with the integrated web solution with its existing ERP system.

Rob Brewill, Finance Director, Selco, said, We have been working with K3 for over five years. This latest project will coordinate our product portfolio with our existing website.  It will give us one central place to control data and be able to price products as the website is instantly updated.

Rob continued, To support ambitious growth plans, we implemented K3s Retail System a few years ago to provide us with a solid IT platform.  K3 was selected, as Selcos sister company, Woodies, based in Ireland, successfully implemented the solution.  Weve spent the first couple of years rolling the system out across our chain, and last year we really started to look at the benefits, and the additional features that will enhance the system. We have a great relationship with K3, and we know were in safe hands for this business critical project.

The project is currently in development stage, and when rolled out will be made available to over 200,000 existing customers as well as unpriced available to potential new customers.

Rob commented, Using the customer data, the web system talks to our K3 Retail System.  Existing customers have to register when they first visit online and we so will be able to capture their email address. This will bring us big cost savings as we are then able to send our newsletter & offers electronically instead of posting each month.  Customers will also be able to create a priced materials listing which we are able to follow up to supply the materials

Selcos plans for the future include the introduction of K3s staff scheduling and rota solution, which will recommend the hours that Selcos staff work.

John Little, Sales Director, K3, said, Selco is an excellent example of a company who has seen a great return on its IT investment, and is now looking for additional ways to enhance its IT platform and really maximise the benefits.
