The company has selected Barcelona-based Protelsa Productos Profesionales de Telecomunicaciones, s.a. to represent and sell its products. J2s Business Development Director for Southern Europe and Africa, Christina Fielvard, negotiated the partnership.
2009 was a period of unmatched growth for J2 in terms of extending its international reach. It concluded new distribution deals in South Africa and throughout Europe and Scandinavia, and also established its first J2 subsidiary company in Australia.
Explains J2 Retail Systems co-founder and managing director, Moray Boyd: Were seeing a lot of interest in our products, particularly in Europe, with companies keen to work with us to capitalise on the growing demand for PC-based EPoS. So, Spain was the next logical piece of our jigsaw.
Protelsa is one of Spains leading systems integrators. Specialising in payment systems, telecommunications and logistics, it represents a significant number of global hardware brands and deploys complete solutions of hardware, software and services.
Says the companys managing director, Rafael Garcia: J2 Retail Systems has a reputation for innovation, reliability and cost-effectiveness, and weve admired the company for some time. When we were introduced by a mutual business partner, it quickly became clear that we should be working together, and were very pleased to have been appointed J2s distribution partner for the Spanish market.
Protelsa has the advantage of starting its prospecting armed with three new J2 PC-based touchscreen EPoS units: the J2 580, the J2 650 and the J2 615. The J2 615, launched most recently, is the first machine of its type to use Solid State storage as standard. This feature radically improves system reliability and, by extension, reduces the cost of ownership.
Concludes Rafael Garcia: The J2 product range gives us a number of processor options to offer end-users and resellers, to satisfy those clients that need to run resource-hungry applications in addition to those looking for keen price-performance.
