Star Micronics new TSP100 ECO POS printer was introduced to the market at NRF (National Retail Federation Exhibition), New York and will be on show to the European market at the retail exhibition EuroCIS taking place in Dsseldorf, Germany in March.  As the name suggests, the TSP100 ECO will demonstrate many features designed to reduce environmental impact from all angles including a sophisticated power management system, which results in nearly 50% less average power consumption than any existing single station POS printer available.

The TSP100 ECO is a direct response to worldwide demand to reduce carbon emissions and retailers responsibility to reduce energy consumption enabling them to save money and contribute to the battle against global warming, stated Simon Martin, Director and General Manager of Star Micronics EMEA & India.

Star Micronics Co, Ltd has calculated the TSP100 ECO power consumption savings over a 5-year period to be 36.7kWh (based on 5 years of usage, 24 hours, 7 days a week producing 300 receipts per day).  According to these results, the new TSP100 ECO demonstrates an energy-efficient advantage over all competitors models, even the most well-known.

The TSP100 ECO is the latest generation of the Star futurePRNT Series launched in 2005.  Previous additions have included a dedicated single station Powered USB and LAN models as well as the 250mm/second TSP100GT Series a fast single-station POS printer.
