Citizen introduces new cost effective, high performance POS printer

This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Citizen introduces new cost effective, high performance POS printer.

Citizen Systems Europe, manufacturer of high quality POS, label, barcode and industrial printers, has launched its latest printer specifically designed to provide high performance operation in Point of Sale applications. Simple to use and maintain, the compact CT-S601 is ideal for printing receipts and tickets in retail environments and queue management systems.

Printing at speeds of 200mm/sec, this printer is one of the fastest in its class, offering superior functionality and satisfying the needs of typical retail environments. The CT-S601 can accommodate media from 58 83 mm in width and paper thickness from 65 150 microns for optimal flexibility. With the options of being free standing or wall mounted, the new printer features an internal integrated, detachable power supply making it ideal for use in cash register environments where space is at a premium.

The CT-S601 displays printer status and error messages clearly via its green, red and orange LEDs, making troubleshooting quick and simple to reduce machine downtime. Furthermore, maintenance can be performed easily in seconds thanks to a paper cover damper that allows the paper roll to be changed safely, while the cutter and thermal head can be replaced without tools due to Citizen's proven snap-in system.

The self-retracting cutter in the new CT-S601 cuts twice as fast as existing models (0.5 seconds per cut) for greater efficiency in POS applications. It can also be used for either full or partial cuts to issue coupons as attachments to receipts, an increasingly growing trend in supermarkets and petrol stations. In addition, the printer driver now offers the ability to produce different types of coupon based on keywords contained in the receipt.

The CT-S601 features all of the industry standard interfaces, and can be equipped with Powered USB or a USB interface with an integrated USB hub, so that other USB devices can be connected to the printer easily where space is limited.
