This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Start-up retailers fast-tracked to success with new Setting up Shop guide.

Epos Partners, supplier of retail hardware and EPOS equipment, is helping new retailers to hit the high street with a bang thanks to its new guide to 'Setting up Shop'.

The free guide, which is available for download from www.epospartners.co.uk, is designed to help those new to retail stores to navigate the maze of retail hardware available and create a strategy that starts with the customer experience first and works backwards to decide what equipment is required to deliver it.

The independent guide takes a retailer through the entire hardware planning process, from understanding what the customer wants to see through to choosing the right POS terminals, printers, scanners, cash registers, touch screens and handheld terminals. It also explores new to market innovations such as contactless payments and provides checklists at each step of the way to ensure all avenues are covered.

Paul Manning, Director of Services at Epos Partners says: "It's clear that the recession has changed the face of retail dramatically, with household names such as Woolworths disappearing from the High Street after surviving for almost 100 years. It has shown us that nothing can be taken for granted when it comes to trading and that even the strongest of brand names and cult followings won't protect a retailer from the reality of closure.

But as with every big change, what this also presents is a huge opportunity for many new, fresh and aspiring retailers to gain a foothold in the marketplace and in some cases, gain a High Street presence that simply wouldn't have been possible a few years ago.

We know how critical the early stages can be in the success of a new store and why choosing the right equipment is important. We also know that it can be a case of information overload when it comes to shopping for hardware, which brands to use, which features are needed, what sort of prices are reasonable. To this end, we've created this simple, easy to use guide to setting up shop, containing everything a new retailer needs to know to help choose the best solutions for their business."
