One iota, the cloud-based, multi-channel retail solutions provider, has launched its in-store Commerce solution SmartPod, with a multi-store pilot with Footasylum at selected UK stores. Footasylum has deployed SmartPod to offer its online shop within the in-store environment. The fully integrated self-service kiosk removes barriers to sales such as stocking issues by making entire product ranges available at all times while allowing retailers to utilise in-store and online marketing in tandem to attract high-street customers.

SmartPod incorporates the latest touch screen tablet technology making it user friendly, enhancing customer experience of in-store devices. Additionally its fully integrated payment system and home delivery capabilities make purchasing quicker and more efficient helping to reduce queuing time.

One iota's CEO, Damian Hanson, commented: "We are delighted to launch SmartPod with Footasylum.  We know retailers are keen to bring eCommerce in-store to maximise revenues and enhance the customer experience. We firmly believe that SmartPod is truly innovative and representative of the next generation of retail. Its integration of all retail channels plus the flexibility it offers consumers puts SmartPod users ahead of the game in terms of the evolution retail is currently undergoing.  Footasylum are up there as one of the most pioneering retailers in the UK and we believe SmartPod has set a new bench mark for in-store and publicly located retailing."

The launch of SmartPod with Footasylum marks the continuation of a long standing relationship with One iota after they produced a mobile optimised site, native iPhone application and Facebook store during the past 12-months as part of its multi-channel initiatives.

Emma Ryder, Ecommerce Marketing Assistant at Footasylum, said: "We enjoy a fantastic working relationship with One iota and from the outset their expertise of new retail technology has been invaluable. We know our customers are keen to use technology as part of shopping with us and with One iota we have created something which we feel totally connects our online and in-store retail journey to improve our customer experience of shopping with Footasylum."

SmartPod can be customised as required, but standard features include a 32" multi-touch HD screen, barcode scanner, receipt printer and secure chip & PIN payment terminal. Operating on One iota's MESHCommerce Platform, the solution is fully managed by One iota with full integration into existing back-office functions.

David Hague, CTO and Co-founder of One iota added: "When we looked at the retail kiosk market we were horrified with the dated solutions we saw in the market. Immediately we wanted to build our own offering to provide an intuitive and engaging shopping experience.  SmartPod™ was the output of our research and development, it comprises the latest gestures based multi-touch user experience and market leading hardware. We feel it's a truly innovative solution which will we continue to advance over the coming months."
