This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Canon expands i-Sensys range with new smart devices & mobile printing for laser products.

Canon has announced an expansion to its i-Sensys laser printer range with the launch of six new single function devices: the i-Sensys LBP6780x, LBP7780Cx, LBP7100Cn, LBP7110Cw, LBP6310dn and LBP7210Cdn.

Canon has also announced the introduction of mobile printing for its i-Sensys range with the launch of the Canon Mobile Printing App for iPad or iPhone. It allows simple printing of documents including PDF files, web pages and images over the network from iPhones and iPads, and will be available to download from the Apple App Store™.

Extended range of smart laser printers

Canon has extended its successful i-Sensys 'LBP Advance' range of smart laser printers with the LBP6780x and LBP7780Cx, which provide busy workgroups with additional performance, reliability and security. The new flagship devices offer high speed printing and expand the range of print speeds available in Canon's i-Sensys MEAP-enabled range. The LBP6780x is a black-and-white printer that produces prints at 40ppm while the new i-SENSYS LBP7780Cx, a colour printer, operates at 32ppm in both colour and black-and-white. Both devices come complete with a 5-line LCD display for ease of use and capability for job selection through Canon's uniFLOW platform.

Seamless integration and effective device management

The new i-Sensys printers offer easy integration with Canon's wider office portfolio, including its imageRunner Advance range. Embedded MEAP functionality provides access to Canon's uniFLOW platform, delivering enterprise functionality within a smaller footprint.

Simplified print-related management for the LBP6780x and LBP7780Cx delivers increased up-time with Canon's device management solutions. eMaintenance enables service providers to remotely manage and replenish consumables more efficiently, capture meter-readings, and improve the chance of a remote or first-time-fix with remote diagnostics. iW MC delivers fleet-wide firmware and application upgrades. The two new models support the latest network and security standards, such as Gigabit Ethernet, IP Sec and IEEE802.1x.

Space-saving design

Canon has maintained a consistent, space-saving design to blend into any office environment across the new range and this continues with the new i-Sensys LBP6310dn and LBP7210Cdn. Targeted at small and medium sized businesses that print higher volumes, the LBP6310dn offers a fast black-and-white print speed of 33ppm while the LBP7210Cdn produces colour and black-and-white print speeds of 20ppm with both models offering duplex printing. Both devices feature as standard a built-in network interface making them easy to share across workgroups for increased productivity.

Enhanced speed and connectivity

The new i-Sensys LBP7100Cn and LBP7110Cw, which replace Canon's LBP5050 and LBP5050n, refresh Canon's range of colour single function printers. The LBP7110Cw's Wi-Fi capability means that it can be connected to a wireless network and shared amongst a group of users. The new devices produce clear, crisp prints with a resolution of 1200 x 1200dpi at speeds of 14ppm, making them well suited to SoHo or small business environments that need to print high-quality colour documents in-house. Both printers are easy to manage thanks to Canon's Remote User Interface feature, which enables the printers to be monitored over the network.

All the new i-Sensys printers feature Canon's Quick First-Print technology which reduces waiting times for first prints to emerge whilst also helping to save energy with class-leading Energy Star TEC (Typical Electricity Consumption) ratings.

The i-Sensys LBP7780Cx, LBP7210Cdn, LBP7100Cn, LBP7110Cw and LBP6310dn will be available in the UK & Ireland from January 2013. The i-Sensys LBP6780x will be available from the start of February. The Canon Mobile Printing app will be introduced from the end of November 2012 to support a wide range of Canon products, including i-Sensys, iR and imageRunner-Advance ranges.
