This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Mosimann's deploys Gardiff and AURES technology in the group's 'jewel in the crown', its private dining club in Belgravia.

Mosimann's Club, one of the most prestigious private dining clubs in the world, has revealed that it relies upon an EPoS solution from Gardiff and AURES Technologies UK, formerly J2 Retail Systems, to run its front-of-house and back-office operations.

The solution has been installed year in the bar, restaurant and dining rooms, and runs on J2 630 PC-based touchscreen terminals.  A desktop version of the system is also located at Reception for merchandise sales.  Back-office access is provided remotely from the group's headquarters.

Mosimann's has been working with EPoS solutions and systems provider Gardiff since 2011.  During that time, it has used Gardiff at numerous high-profile events such as Henley Regatta, The Coronation Festival and London 2012 Olympics to deliver corporate and public catering services.  The confidence gained from its relationship with Gardiff recently prompted Mosimann's to install a new EPoS solution at its private dining club.

Explains Isabel Montes de Oca, Head of Finance for the group: "Before Gardiff, we ran our operations with Casio tills.  Performance was an issue and the system generated no management information.  In 2011, we opted to work with Gardiff and they helped us at The Olympics with a more sophisticated and more reliable solution.  We couldn't have managed without them."

Mosimann's finds the Gardiff programme adaptable to the varying needs of its clients.  "Each does business in a different way so we need flexibility.  Gardiff are keen to adapt their solution to our requirements.  The system is also very fast and friendly to use."

In the case of the fine-dining environment of Mosimann's Club, technology has to be discrete but efficient, automating and supporting the flow of service, ordering and payment. The Belfry hosts events such as Glorious Grouse dinners, evenings with celebrity guest speakers and society weddings, and expectations are always high. Members come from the world over to enjoy the Club's exemplary cuisine and wines, served in the atmospheric and luxurious setting of The Belfry, an historic Belgravia church.  The Club comprises a Balcony Bar, the grand Main Dining Room and seven Private Dining Rooms, each sponsored by a marque such as Lalique, Bentley and Garrard.

Ms Montes de Oca goes on to observe that Gardiff support is exceptional.  "Support is absolutely critical and our chosen partner has to provide a system that can't break down.  I've not found this in the past with other systems.  Our clients are very demanding and there's no room for error."

"Reporting is important to us too," continues Isabel Montes de Oca.  "The only way to improve is to analyse what you've done.  For that you need data which you can analyse, even compare year by year.  This helps you purchase accurately and minimise waste and also understand your clients, to plan and to budget.  Gardiff delivers the business insights that are critical to understanding our business performance."
