This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Airangel announces OEM deal with Wi-Q to improve customer service and reduce waiting time in bars, restaurants and hotels.

WiFi solution provider Airangel has announced an OEM agreement with Wi-Q, the provider of mobile SaaS solutions for in-store ordering and payment.

The fully integrated Wi-Fi solution allows customers to place and pay for an order in multiple venues using just three keystrokes in less than seven seconds, with no pre-registration or downloading. Hotels, retailers, restaurants and bars can now significantly enhance their customers' buying experience over traditional app-based ordering solutions, with the unique combination of Wi-Q's application development experience and Airangel's underlying Wi-Fi CRM technology. In addition, the collaborative solution provides venues with valuable user and device location data to enable them to increase and improve relevant and timely customer interaction, as part of a wider omni-channel marketing strategy.

"The partnership with Wi-Q is an industry first that combines our in depth understanding of public and guest Wi-Fi with industry-leading development skills," said Dean Wilkinson, CEO of Airangel. "It illustrates our desire to build, tailor and future-proof solutions around the ever-changing demands of our clients and the evolving needs of their customers."

The Airangel Wi-Fi/Wi-Q solution offers hotels, restaurants, bars and shops:

  • Secure, branded and customisable guest and public Wi-Fi access to landing pages, menus and payment systems
  • Real-time tracking of device location, user data and behaviour using Airangel's WANalytics and social profiling
  • Access to, ownership of and full analytics of customer data, behaviour, preferences and interests
  • Ability to integrate Wi-Fi-collected data within omni-channel marketing campaigns and loyalty programmes

Graham Cornhill, CEO of Wi-Q said, "Smart phones and other devices are playing an increasingly important role in our lives as consumers, as well as offering businesses new ways of enhancing customer experience and increasing marketing reach. Our partnership with Airangel will ensure we are aligned and positioned to revolutionise and respond to these rapidly developing market opportunities."

Unlike other WiFi service providers, Airangel does not sell on end-user data to third parties for promotional purposes. By collaborating with applications such as those developed by Wi-Q, it promotes the venue's own brand and logo to guests and customers and remains invisible to the end user. Any end-user data collected as a result of connecting to the venue's WiFi is instantly, and exclusively, available to the business through the management platform, MyAirangel, to support highly targeted digital, mobile marketing and promotional campaigns.
