This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: James and James ControlPort software upgraded.

In the latest upgrade to its popular ControlPort logistics software, fulfilment specialists James and James has provided e-retailers with an automated service that gives more management information without even needing to log in.

Called the Notification Suite, the new facility means that retailers can set up automated e-mail notifications about practically anything that happens in the warehouse. This could be as simple as advising that a consignment had arrived or had been dispatched, to more complex analysis such as margin lost to storage for slow moving goods.

Other useful data includes freshness dating alerts, failed order processing due to e.g. missing data, and regular key performance data against specification. Graphical presentation ensures rapid and useful communication of key statistics (see screen shot).

Having set up the system, alerts are sent automatically by e-mail and are stored until acknowledged. Since the whole system is run from the Cloud, management of sales and inventory is fast, always accurate and accessible from any location, even on a mobile device.

Notification Suite is now a standard feature of ControlPort software. The recently introduced user-friendly interface includes sophisticated filter tools, allowing powerful data mining of transaction data.

Another new feature, designed for fraud protection, allows clients to set a trigger value in ControlPort, above which any orders received will be automatically held, and an e-mail sent to the client. The order can then be checked before release. Data will be available on orders stopped and the value of the goods saved.

"Notification Suite takes ease of use to a new level", said James Hyde, Operations Director of James and James. "Our retailer clients tell us it's like having another staff member keeping an eye on things around the clock."
