This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Epos Now launches UK’s first POS AppStore.

Epos Now – the UK independent EPOS supplier – has launched what it claims to be Britain's first point of sale (POS) AppStore, making hundreds of business-boosting web services accessible nationwide.

Offering everything companies need to tailor their Epos Now system, scale their business, and stay ahead of the market, a growing list of 80+ apps are currently available on the newly launched AppStore.

From loyalty building and online booking apps, to powerful CRMs and email infrastructure services, the platform is already helping retailers improve sales, customer service and efficiency.

Epos Now CEO Jacyn Heavens comments on how the new development arose: "Having observed the growing popularity of apps in the smartphone market, we thought, why not apply that movement to B2B and customise it to our customers' needs?"

The resulting POS AppStore offers huge flexibility and puts the power in retailers' hands, both in terms of budget and needs.

"Instead of buying software and investing in everything in one go, the Epos Now AppStore adapts to our customers' needs as their business grows. It allows them to install or even uninstall different apps as and when the need arises or when budget allows," Jacyn adds.

As well as having developed many apps in-house, the AppStore is also connected to hundreds of popular web services retailers are already using, made possible through partnerships with the likes of Sage, Paymentsense, MailChimp and Nettl.

The Nettl app, for example, allows retailers to design and build a new website and webshop to their specification. Nettl also provides Click & Collect functionality – previously out of reach for small businesses – to Epos Now's customers.

Nettl's ready-to-go integration with Epos Now means retailers can connect their web shop to their physical shop and start selling online.

Wayne Taylor, Chief Technology Officer, outlines further possibilities the AppStore allows: "While we have over 80 integrations available, if you need a custom app, people can even develop their own. The Epos Now API can be used to integrate your Epos Now system with anything, anywhere."

While the AppStore officially launched this month, Epos Now has been building apps for the new platform since October 2014 and undergoing customer trials since January 2015.

So far, having seen in excess of 2,000 visitors a day and 1,000 installations per month, the new development looks set to change the face of POS technology.
