This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Dune London puts best foot forward with retail operations management system from StorIQ.

Dune London, the influential global player in fashion footwear and accessories, has implemented store management solutions from software as a service (SaaS) start-up, StorIQ, to improve operational efficiency and consistency and share best practice across the store estate.

Online retail has increased customer expectations in terms of both service and consistency, meaning bricks and mortar shops must raise their game to compete and stay relevant.

To this end, Dune are using the StorIQ Area Manager application across its UK store portfolio to enable their AMs to efficiently conduct store visits and reviews on the fly, including issuing of tasks and uploading and sharing of images. The Area Manager iPad application has been set up based on Dune's existing and well established "WOW" store review framework. This application greatly speeds up the review process. The Area Manager application allows for improved communication with store management and Central support office.

Dave Abbott, Retail Omni-channel Manager at Dune, said: "My role is to bring the best and most suitable technology into the stores and our area management team. The app has been designed with the area manager's workflow in mind and is helpful in preparing for, conducting and reporting on store visits."

"Since using the StorIQ Area Manager application, our AMs have reported that a full WOW store review takes roughly half the time it used to whilst maintaining the same high standards we as a company expect."

In addition to using the Area Manager application in the UK, Dune are also using StorIQ's Store View module in its international operations. Nick Jackson, international operations manager, said: "The Store View photo functionality is fantastic and it allows us to monitor consistency and VM standards across a diverse range of stores, concessions and franchises that span numerous geographical regions with ease. We recently rolled out StorIQ across our portfolio in the Middle East and it was fantastic to see how quickly colleagues were embracing the system and uploading photos into the central database for review."

Peter Wake, founder and CEO of StorIQ, said: "We're delighted to be working with such a well-established brand as Dune and one that shares our passion for retail innovation and delivery of consistent customer experiences. The senior team at Dune immediately appreciated the potential benefits our solution could bring to their business and were keen to explore possibilities."

Wake concluded: "Our bigger vision for StorIQ is that it allows for metrics to be applied to retail operations procedures that aren't currently analysed. We're applying the same kind of analytical review and thinking to bricks and mortar retail that we do to online and this allows retailers to see where tweaks and changes need to be made in order to improve efficiency and improve profits."
