BHS has announced that its successful relaunch in the UK as an online retailer in late September this year was based on a new technology platform designed and built within just eight weeks.
Based on a foundation of SAP and Hybris, the platform was designed, configured and developed by BHS and its partners In Cloud Solutions and Greenlight Commerce.
BHS.com opened for business in the UK on 29th September and since then it has added new lines to the site including kitchen and dining ware, as well as different clothing ranges.
Its new online platform was designed to be one of the most customer-friendly in the retail sector. Customers can order and checkout with just two clicks and can log onto the website with one device such as their mobile phone and continue their shopping experience on another such as a laptop or tablet.
The platform also encompasses the Ingenico ePayments engine, customer services from Ascensos and third party logistics services from Advanced Supply Chain. BHS will continue to add new functionality to the core technology platform on an incremental basis including payment options, reviews, enhanced filtering and personalisation in the months ahead.
The UK online platform is tightly integrated with the SAP system that supports the BHS International business. It delivers enhanced functionality that will enable improved operations and information sharing with BHS International's trading partners as the company continues to develop its product and service offer to its international partners.

We had the advantage of starting out with a blank piece of paper when designing what has now become our 'technology ecosystem', based on the most efficient processes and the best customer experience possible.
"We had no legacy systems to worry about and we had the advantage of working with excellent partners who were as committed as we were to making this project a success within a short timeframe of eight weeks. We were able to act as a nimble start-up but build industrial, enterprise strength systems using an agile approach with proven technologies including SAP and Hybris."

In June 2016, BHS International (UK) Limited, which was formed by The Al Mana Group, acquired BHS.com, the International franchise business, and the BHS brand. The new SAP platform will support back office operations for the BHS International franchise business as well as BHS.com in the UK.
The Al Mana Group operates in a number of sectors including retail, automotive, real estate, media and technology. It represents a range of high profile brands including: Zara, Mango, Armani Exchange, United Colors of Benetton and Reebok.
