Aptos, the retail technology solutions provider, has announced a new partnership with discount retailer Poundland & Dealz.

With approaching 850 stores in the UK, Ireland, Spain and France, in September 2016, Poundland became a key part of Steinhoff International's growing European general merchandise division.

Offering top brands and great quality own brand products that provide customers with amazing value every day, Poundland will integrate Aptos' Store point of sale solution into its plans for store growth at home and abroad.

Named Discount Retailer of the Year in 2015, Poundland now has over 18,000 colleagues who serve over seven million customers every week. Through this agreement with Aptos, Poundland will gain a strategic, long-term partner to support the opening of new retail outlets to improve and streamline the customer experience.

Steve Towe, chief operating officer at Aptos, said, "We are excited to support Poundland and Dealz with its growth plans, bringing Aptos' infrastructure at their disposal as it continues to bring its discount format to a broader audience."

The implementation phase of the project commenced on 1 September, and the roll-out will continue in line with Poundland & Dealz' plans for growth.

Poundland & Dealz are key retail formats within Steinhoff International, which serves customers through 40-plus retail brands in 30 countries across Europe, Australasia, Africa and the United States.

Amongst Poundland's many accolades, the 2015 Grocer Awards, saw the business singled out for Own Label Range of the Year for its Make Up Gallery cosmetics line.

It promises customers thousands of quality products in-store with over 1,000 well-known brands in 17 shopping categories including food and drink, health and beauty, household, gardening, DIY, pet, stationery, books, DVDs and toys. It has also begun a rapid rollout of family fashion from sister brand PEP&CO, which will trade from over 130 'shop-in-shops' at Poundland stores by the end of 2017.
