This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Automated ePod solution from BEC delivers significant improvements for Aliaxis.

As part of a drive to continuously improve customer service, Aliaxis has teamed with BEC (Systems Integration) Ltd, a leading UK-based supplier of data capture solutions for supply chain logistics and manufacturing, to introduce Electronic Point of Delivery (ePod) technology to modernise its order track and traceability processes.

Aliaxis, parent company of plumbing brands Hunter Plastics, Marley Plumbing & Drainage and Multikwik, required technology that would keep up with its complex business at Lenham in Kent. With multiple product lines, the team knew that an off-the-shelf package would not fit the company's needs so they worked closely with chosen solution provider BEC to develop a bespoke software solution, which was specifically tuned to its requirements.

Philip Jarrett, Director of Sales and Marketing at BEC, comments, "To ensure that we created a robust and productive ePod solution for Aliaxis, we carried out extensive mapping of its existing track and traceability processes. By developing the new software in partnership with Aliaxis, we were able to find out exactly what they needed. We implemented a dashboard within its solution, which will allow customers to receive real-time information with regards to the status of their order, giving them access to precise delivery times, taking into account any traffic delays, as well as providing crucial proof-of-delivery information via the customer receipt signature capture. Created with MobileConnect software at its core loaded onto Honeywell CT50 mobile devices, the solution also incorporates route optimisation information, helping Aliaxis's drivers plan efficient and cost-saving delivery schedules."

Tom Hamlyn, Logistics Manager at Aliaxis, explains: "Following feedback that some customers didn't feel that they were receiving enough information about the status of their order, we decided that a fully automated system was the smart way to improve our service. The new solution from BEC will streamline all of our track and traceability processes, offering big improvements to our business. We are very much looking forward to offering this new solution to our customers and anticipate an excellent response. We are also keen to roll out the solution to our Scottish distribution centre in the near future."
