This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: DENSO WAVE EUROPE at the RetailEXPO in London.

For the first time, RetailEXPO in London is bringing together three leading events for the retail sector: Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE), Retail Design Expo (RDE), and Retail Design Signage Expo (RDSE).

DENSO WAVE EUROPE, part of the Toyota Group, introduces its product innovations for retail: the state-of-the-art BHT-1700 and BHT-1800 handheld terminals, the new SP1 RFID sled, a QR Code based facial recognition solution, and a new copy-protected QR Code.

RetailEXPO is the leading event for retail technology, design, and digital signage. For the first time this year, RetailEXPO will unite the three leading retail shows: Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE), Retail Design Expo (RDE) and Retail Design Signage Expo (RDSE). DENSO WAVE EUROPE, part of the Toyota Group, will be showcasing its innovative handheld terminals BHT-1700 and BHT-1800 as well as the new SP1 RFID sled in London at the RetailEXPO on the stand 5E80.

Kaber Kolioutsis, Marketing Communication Specialist at DENSO WAVE EUROPE, says: “At RetailEXPO, all innovations, new ideas, and relevancy for today’s omnichannel market come together. Especially for the retail sector, our state-of-the-art data collection devices are ideal, because they provide solutions for fast mobile data collection and optimize the workflow in retail environments.

The Retail Sector is changing: Mobile Data Collection offers Advantages

The retail industry is currently going through changes from product-oriented to customer-oriented, from efficiency to flexibility, and from optimization to inspiration. This means that processes in the retail sector will change significantly. “Customer satisfaction is an important keyword. Mobile data collection contributes significantly to optimising processes and enabling faster results – always with the focus on customer satisfaction.

Our handheld terminals and scanners for mobile data collection not only relieve the workload for employees in retail, but also ensure a good customer experience,” explains Kolioutsis. When shopping, customers are more and more interested in experiencing something special. They want to be flexible in their choices and they also want to be inspired. In all these areas, both the BHT-1700 handheld terminal and the BHT-1800 handheld terminal, as well as the SP1 RFID sled from DENSO, part of the Toyota Group, come into play and can help them realise this.

BHT-1700 and BHT-1800 enable innovative Solutions for Retail

DENSO WAVE EUROPE is constantly responding to the demands of the retail industry and has developed the BHT-1700 handheld terminal and the BHT-1800 handheld terminal, two data collection devices that are particularly ergonomic thanks to their angled scan heads. While the BHT-1700 handheld is equipped with a 4’’ mega-display and keyboard, the BHT-1800 handheld also pushes the limits with its 5’’ superscreen.

Both handhelds are available in six different model types. Due to the especially large LCD display on the two handhelds, employees in the retail sector can, for example, clearly show customers products that are directly obtainable in the shop than would otherwise be available in the warehouse or on order. This way, the customer experience can be optimised with the two innovative handhelds – with a focus on customer satisfaction.

In Retail, the SP1 RFID Scanner does not only score with its Speed

The SP1 RFID scanner from DENSO WAVE EUROPE, part of the Toyota Group, also allows for an enormous increase in efficiency in any mobile data collection application. The SP1 RFID sled turns simple smart devices into high-speed UHF RFID scanners, as with this new model, the RFID function can be added to almost any smart device. “This allows companies, including those in the retail sector, not to have to exchange their equipment completely and still be able to include RFID in their processes,” Kolioutsis explains.

Another advantage for the employees in retail is that the SP1 RFID sled is almost self-explanatory. For the connection, a QR Code on the SP1 is simply read with an existing smart device. Then both devices are linked via Bluetooth. In addition, the SP1 RFID sled can read up to 700 RFID tags per second – a decisive advantage while doing inventories. And even when it gets stressful and the SP1 RFID sled drops on the floor, this is not a problem. The SP1 RFID sled can withstand up to 30 drops from heights of up to 1.2 meters.
