Velocity Commerce, the online retail specialist based in Cambridge, UK, has announced that during December 2019 it will offer next-day delivery on all orders placed up until 9pm. To offer this festive fulfilment service, Velocity has worked with Royal Mail to organise an additional collection from its warehouse at 10pm during the Christmas period.
The move is informed by consumer spending trends indicating that many shoppers are making purchases later in the evening. During the month of October, the data for Velocity Commerce’s Amazon sales indicated that the greatest shopping peak time is between 7pm-9pm; in these two hours the business will see on average 16% of the day’s sales.
Velocity Commerce manages and retails product ranges on Amazon and eBay for a wide range of partners with ranges perfect for Christmas gifting, including: Majority, LEGO, Sony, Brita and Nextbase. With a team of specialists in Amazon marketing, content optimisation, SEO and international sales, Velocity Commerce is able to help brands increase their sales on online marketplaces and turn them into category leaders. The business also offers a fulfilment service to its clients and manages product sales from end to end, including listing, optimisation, distribution and customer service.
PJ Scott, Co-founder and Director, Velocity Commerce, comments: “Consumer demand for convenience presents huge opportunities for online retailers. With the rise of m-commerce, people are now shopping all day, every day – our sales data shows that people are buying online right from when they first wake up at 6am, through to when they go to bed at 10pm. With the expectation of being able to buy online anytime, comes the expectation that deliveries will arrive almost as quickly and so to maximise festive sales, it is critical that brands and retailers ensure their products are available for next day delivery. We are excited to be able to offer this service on behalf of our partners this year.”
Velocity Commerce’s late night next-day delivery service will be available until 18 December. Scott continues: “Consumers are leaving their Christmas shopping later and later in the month – and where in the past shoppers might have rushed to the high street to make their last minute purchases, if you can provide a service where they can do so in the comfort of their own home, whilst saving fuel, time and money, they certainly will take you up on your offer. We’re working with some really fantastic brands this Christmas – from Sony TVs and Nextbase dash cams, to Star Wars LEGO models and Tile luggage tags. It’s certainly going to be a busy month.”
In 2019, Velocity Commerce was named one of the fastest growing companies in Europe in the FT 1000 report; one of just 27 UK companies to have made it to the top 100.
