Three steps to a heavenly Valentine`s

Together or apart, one English manufacturer has got lockdown Valentine’s sorted. Showing you care or getting pulses racing; this Valentine’s Day, say it with the humble candle.

At the end of 2020, a worldwide survey found that 38.2 per cent of single people continued dating during the pandemic, despite their country being in lockdown.  St Valentine’s Day 2021 is looming.  New couples can’t meet up and perhaps don’t know each other well enough to send perfume or jewellery.

Head of Product at Wax Lyrical, Rachel Holmes, has saintly solutions, “We know candles make the perfect gift, for all ages, for a man or a woman.  A candle shows you’ve put some thought into the gift; they are used and enjoyed for a long time; they can represent traditional gifts such as roses and can be fun or sophisticated; by choosing the right fragrance, a candle makes a lovely gift for all tastes.”

For those living under the same roof this February, Wax Lyrical also has all the tips to get the Valentine’s date night look at home.  Rachel explains, “Yes it’s nice to have the right food and look your best, but it’s a scientific fact that smell has a stronger link to emotion than any of the other human senses. The right scent such as jasmine, saffron, ginseng and patchouli can make for a magical evening or if it’s a family home, vanilla and sandalwood can help your loved one simply relax and feel loved.”

Wax Lyrical has placed a simple how to guide on its website which includes the important things to consider and prepare for.  “The only thing we can’t help with is the washing up.” Says Rachel.  “Our Valentine’s guide doesn’t have to mean spending a lot of money, it really is about setting the scene, creating the right environment and the must haves for that, are candles.”

According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated 145 million Valentine’s Day cards are sent each year, making it the second largest card-sending holiday of the year but St Valentine’s Day didn’t really start out so harmonious.  The path of true love rarely runs smooth and the origins of the celebration aren’t so sweet including beheadings in the 3rd century.  The pagan origins are the celebration of Lupercalia celebrated at the ides of February.  It was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture and their celebrations also included an ancient version of match making – long before “Married At First Sight” hit our screens.

Rachel added, “Perhaps worthy of note by 2021 expectant parents, the name Valentine is currently in the top 100 names in France and Belgium.  If ever there was a time to fall back in love with Valentine, it’s this year.  For centuries it has been common for lovers and friends to exchange small tokens of affection.  Our candles and diffusers are 100% fragranced and can be enjoyed together, sent to a friend or other family member or as a Valentine’s treat just for you.  It’s important to love your home, love yourself and share the love. Valentine’s isn’t just for the love of your life or the beau of your bubble.”

Recently acquainted or living in the same house, Wax Lyrical has 40 years of experience on how to keep that flame burning bright.
