Komet, a new kiosk solution by Aures

This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Komet, a new kiosk solution by Aures.

In addition to its knowhow as a manufacturer of complete ranges of POS systems (EPOS, Mobile POS / tablets), Aures Technologies is continuing its development in the kiosk and SCO sector (self-check-out or self-service check-out) and the omnichannel digital customer journey.

Among the Group's new customised and turnkey offers is Komet, a multi-environment and multi-function kiosk solution designed for several sectors: Retail, Hospitality & Catering, Food and Beverage (self-service, fast food & SCO for take-away sales), leisure & services (cinemas and theatres, sport venues, etc).

Three ergonomic and complementary configurations

Whether wall-mounted, ‘standalone’ (fixed to the floor), in its single or double-sided configuration (back-to-back screens for simultaneous consultation and intervention by two consumers), the Komet kiosk range is an essential tool for the fluidity and efficiency of the customer journey at the point of service.

Integration of hardened and durable sub-systems

  • YUNO Kiosk 27'' system

The Komet Kiosk family incorporates some AURES' high-performance, upgradeable OEM equipment and sub systems, such as the Yuno Kiosk (27'').

Offered in portrait mode, the touch screen orientation will boost the delivered customer experience, thanks to a 27-inch format guaranteeing good visibility together with smooth and efficient navigation.

Featuring modular technology, this hardware is available with a choice of three different processors (i5, i3 or J1900), in order to adapt to the requirements of various software and application platforms.

Equipped with a projected capacitive panel (PCAP), the Komet’s screen(s) are multi-touch and resistant to the liquid splashes and dust which are so frequent in many environments (IP 54 protection standard).

  • ODP 444 thermal printer

Komet integrates the ODP 444 thermal receipt printer, a product developed and manufactured by Aures; it allows the printing of 80 mm wide tickets and receipts.

  • Integrated payment terminals and 2D scanner

The Komet range accepts various electronic payment terminal, such as Worldline's VALINA, Ingenico's LANE products, Verifone's P400 and Pax's S300.

Contactless and cashless payment options such as Apple Pay and Google Pay are also possible.

Thanks to the 2D scanner, loyalty programmes can also be associated with the proposed customer journey, through the reading of barcodes on paper or via a smartphone.

Specific Aures design for an optimised store and POS organisation

Whatever the configuration chosen (wall-mounted, standalone, single or double-sided), KOMET offers a compact and slim design with an adapted footprint, for a significant space saving at the POS; the perceived quality of service can thus be improved with an increased number of kiosks available.

When not in use by a consumer, the kiosk can be configured to switch to dynamic display mode, thus providing visual information messages, promotional and advertising campaigns, etc.

Plug & Play, Komet can be easily integrated into any type of commercial and service space, thanks to a simple power cable and network socket.

It is available in graphite grey in its standard version. Other colours, as well as customised options are possible.

For a smooth and accelerated customer journey

Modular, interactive and multifunctional, Komet is a ‘must-have’ on the POS, according to Aures.

Equipped with specific dedicated software platforms according to the needs of a given sector of activity, its multiple management functions will enable the reservation and ordering of products (dishes and menus included), Click & Collect operations, purchase and sales assistance, queue management, subscriptions and loyalty programmes, promotional operations, etc.

Complementary to the more traditional checkout equipment, the Komet range will facilitate traffic at the point of sale; transactions will be accelerated, queues will be limited, bringing a noticeable improvement in the customer journey and experience.

Autonomous thanks to a playful and intuitive screen interface, consumers will be inclined to increase the content of their tray or average basket, which will raise the general sales level made through the kiosk systems installed.
