This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: PervasID’s TrackMaster replaces manual handheld with accurate handsfree real-time location tracking solution.

PervasID, provider of passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader systems for automating inventory and asset tracking, has launched a new advanced version of TrackMaster, claimed to provide greatly enhanced return on investment performance.

TrackMaster uses what PervasID claims to be the world’s most accurate near-real time tracking system utilising the company’s passive (battery-free) RFID reader technology, enabling retailers to accurately track the location of goods in retail stores, using existing tags. Time-consuming, labour-intensive manual handheld scanning is therefore not required.

The system has been rolling out with blue chip retailers worldwide since October 2023 in partnership with SML,  supplier of RFID tags through their Clarity enterprise software.

Advanced Artificial Intelligence is used in TrackMaster to provide an encompassing solution to many of the challenges facing modern retailers. PervasID also states that TrackMaster delivers an impressive return on investment. The latest version now uses a new antenna architecture leading to reduced equipment and installation costs. As a result, the solution makes possible a strong return on investment for all sizes of retail outlets. An enhanced AI-powered data interface allows excellent inventory data analytic functions.

A single PervasID TrackMaster reader can cover densely packed areas of up to 240m² (2,600ft²) making it ideal for retail store sales and storage area settings.  The antennas scan the location of goods within each zone and track when they move between zones offering the customer Real Time Location Services.

TrackMaster integrates seamlessly into 3rd party retail stock management applications via an integrated API giving retailers a graphical map interface showing the location and movement of all tagged goods.

TrackMaster’s real-time stock inventory management system can offer retailers several benefits. These include enhanced sales performance and increased customer satisfaction thanks to greater stock availability and expedited visibility of stock for staff.

Furthermore, it can improve full-price sales and decrease end-of-season markdowns. It can also ensure timely restocking and seamless in-store fulfilment, while at the same time enhancing click-and-collect and online order services.

Additionally, TrackMaster plays a key role in loss prevention by reducing shrinkage (estimated by Retail Economics to have cost retailers £79 billion in 2023 from theft by customers and employees from stores, warehousing and transport) with its inconspicuous monitoring solution.

“There are huge benefits for retailers from accurate and timely location tracking of goods in their stores, however to date there has been no solution which meets the performance and price criteria to deliver this,” said Dr Sabesan Sithamparanathan OBE, Founder & President of PervasID.

“With TrackMaster, retailers can now benefit from highly accurate, near real-time tracking of all their goods, offering massive advantages in terms of reduced wastage and staff time saved.  We would be delighted to speak to retailers at the NRF ‘24 show and will be attending on 15th and 16th January at the SML booth, number 5057.”
