This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Blackwell starts new payment chapter with YESpays EMBOSS solution.

Blackwell, a leading UK academic bookseller, has implemented YESpays PCI: DSS compliant EMBOSS solution, to provide secure Chip & PIN payments across its 160 EPOS tills in 50 UK stores.

The EMBOSS service integrates with ITIMs EPOS technology which securely supports all Chip & PIN payments. YESpay delivered a quick turnaround and saved Blackwell over 3 months in bank accreditation and PCI approval time, as its EMBOSS Bureau Service is a pre-accredited solution, which has also enabled them to significantly reduce the cost of becoming PCI compliant

Victor Smith, IT Manager, at Blackwell, said, The adoption of YESpays EMBOSS payment solution means that we dont have the burden of complying with PCI standards ourselves. It has saved us time and money, as well as offering further business benefits. We now have the ability to view critical business information online through a portal on the YESpay website, which provides us with visibility on sales data.

He continued, The payment solution will also guarantee our customers with a fast, and secure method of payment, improving our customer service offering.

Rohit Patni, EVP Sales and Marketing, YESpay, said, In outsourcing its payments, Blackwell has relinquished the responsibility, hassle and expense of taking on an in-house system. It has also considerably cut the costs of having to conduct any formal bank approval and complying with PCI requirements, which can take months to process.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI: DSS) has been introduced in a bid to secure cardholder data. PCI secures cardholder data that is stored, processed or transmitted by merchants and processors. The standard specifies 12 requirements for security, technology and business processes, and reflects most of the usual best practices for securing sensitive information.
