This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Venda predicts new records in volumes of transactions in run up to Christmas.

In light of the BRC figures just released, confirming that general non-food non-store sales were up 17.6% in November, Venda predicts this increase in online sales to continue through-out December in the run up to Christmas.

Although there has been no significant increase in the volume of sales from the previous Monday, Venda can confirm that transactions were consistently up throughout last week.

Eric Abensur Group CEO of Venda, which processes over 1 in 50 of all UK non-food ecommerce transactions said, "There was no significant increase in the volume of orders from the previous Monday, and despite the hype, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday last week all delivered more ecommerce revenue, between 5-10% higher than this Monday. Having said that, nearly every single day in the last week delivered revenue higher than the best single day last year."

"In recent light of this and the recent BRC figures confirming that general non-food non-store sales were up 17.6% in November, it is clear that the very cold snap has had a significant impact on consumers choice of venue for shopping. Now that ecommerce operations can deliver a secure, reliable and scalable proposition it really is an alternative to heading to the shops.

Eric concludes, "This is not just about one day, we believe that we will continue to see new records in the volumes of transactions in the run up to Christmas as consumers put more trust in the online operations of brands. It is not like the US, where Thanksgiving is followed by Black Friday and then Cyber Monday, UK online shoppers remain very active much closer to Christmas, and continue to do so after Christmas as the Boxing Day Sales start."
