This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Eason and Son reports 73% of online revenue attributed to site search users after deploying SLI systems technology.

Easons.com the largest online book and e-book store in Ireland, now attributes 73% of its total online revenue to search users, with approximately 40% of all site visitors using its online search box. These accomplishments are a result of implementing technology from SLI Systems, which helps online retailers increase sales by connecting shoppers with the products they're most likely to buy.

Easons.com, also known as Eason and Son, has been an Irish institution since 1886. The bookstore boasts more than 60 retail shops throughout Ireland with its flagship store located in Dublin.

The Easons.com site, launched in 2010, has almost 2 million products including books, e-books, stationery, magazines, toys and games. To enable online shopping to be even easier for customers, the company turned to SLI to attain a flexible, fast and accurate search and navigation solution.

Easons.com implemented SLI Learning Search, SLI Learning Navigation and SLI Rich Auto Complete. Learning Search uses patented technology to continually learn from visitors' online shopping activity to deliver the most relevant results. Learning Navigation dynamically builds site navigation pages and continually re-ranks products based on user behaviour, showing the most relevant products toward the top. Rich Auto Complete speeds shoppers' path to the right product by automatically presenting relevant products, images and other information as soon as visitors start typing letters into the search box.

Rich Auto Complete is credited with converting Easons.com customers at double its average rate and generating 25% of the site's total revenue. With around 40% of customers using the search box, Easons.com shoppers now find what they are looking for quickly and efficiently.

The improved experience for Easons.com visitors has translated to deeper brand loyalty and boosted sales. Shoppers can now browse the online bookstore's many categories in the same way they might wander through one of the company's brick-and-mortar stores.

Speaking about the power of search, Yvonne Phillips, e-commerce manager at Easons.com said, "We already see the value of our investment since our deployment of SLI last year. Conversion rate is higher and customers find products more quickly. The ability to create bespoke landing pages and learn from our customers' online activity enables us to be more innovative and further influence revenue."

Easons.com also uses SLI Merchandising and Reporting Console to gain better insight into shoppers' behaviour and to identify new trends. A one-to-one relationship with an SLI dedicated Customer success manager also makes it easy for the company to get the most from SLI e-commerce accelerated solutions.
